Hello There, I believe this will be a banner year for my Halloween happenings. Its amazing that October has 5 weekends within it this year.
FIRST! The first weekend of Oct. 1st-3rd brings me to a VIP pre-opening party for the new Hauntsburg Haunted house in Brownsburg Indiana.
It was a ticketed event with beer and food and music. My wife and I walked though the haunted house with the lights on and no one jumping out to scare us and that scared her so much she didn't want to give the scary version a go. I give Hauntsburg a ****0 4 stars of 5 because they have some obvious "out-of-character" points of their haunted house. What I mean is if you are scared during their haunted house all you need to do is look up and see the building infrastructure and the effect is lost. The city made them place clearly visible emergency exits and this also ruins the effect. The high points of this place is the diverse theming of each scare station. I remember one being themed as an old wagon train pioneer type setting and one being a town hall with the angry mayor letting the guests know that mortals are not welcome. I should post a video of my trip to hauntsburg soon. I would not recommend Hauntsburg for young children or anyone who is easily scared For more info visit www.HAUNTSBURG.com
NEXT! Oct. 2nd The Brownsburg Haunted Chili Cookoff ("Try my stew AH AH AH!")
NEXT! Oct. 9th KD Entertainment Haunted Hayride and Barn (Uhh I think the fog machine is possessed)
This place was very fun and quite haunted. I read that they had 40 workers scaring you along the haunted hayride trail and it showed. It was so well staffed that they had two scare stations of zombies all dancing to Thriller and Jump in the Line from the movie Beetlejuice as well as acrobatics and a real headless horseman!!!! The headless horseman was just plain ICONIC and CLASSIC all at the same time. Their hayride vehicles had a soundtrack playing which is a thoughtful touch and something I wish more haunted hayrides would do. You can certainly tell this places's designers are big Halloween/ Movie fans and their passion comes out in the attractions. There is too much to list here but, if you like exciting, not TOOOO scary but just enough, explosions, and acrobatics in your haunted attraction you have to check this place out. This place gets a ****0 4.5 of 5 stars from me. The Hayride is better than the barn in my opinion. The Barn is very creative having an entire school bus inside that you walk through for a scene. They have 2 rooms where I swear the fog machined was demoniacally possessed it was so thick that anyone with asthma would have an instant attack. I don't have asthma and I thought it was an interesting effect, but it was pretty rough. I think distributing "gas masks" to the guests would be a good touch and theme that room like it was toxic waste. I will post a video soon on this! NEXT! Oct. 17th Next weekend will be Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party DISNEY WORLD!
Stay posted report will be posted after the trip......
